I’m 8 Months Old and Can Say “Mama”!

Jackson is 8 months old already!  Wow- where does the time go??  We’re loving each new stage and the fun changes that keep coming with our sweet baby boy!

Jax has tried more foods over the last month- most of which involves him taking a bite and then spitting it out after a few minutes or turning his head away if we try to offer!  He’s “tried” avocado, broccoli (loves to make a mess with it!), zucchini (he really likes some days), carrots, chicken, beef, liver, butternut squash (he likes some days!).  We are doing mostly an approach called “Baby Led Weaning” (has nothing to do with weaning from nursing, just letting baby lead the way for introducing solids and not doing purees) which just means we give Jax small chunks of food he can easily pick up himself that are soft such as steamed broccoli “trees,” pieces of veggies cooked in soups such as zucchini, etc.  He much prefers to pick up his own food to try and doesn’t like it if we try to help him by putting food to his mouth!  Eggs yolks are now on our do not eat list since they didn’t agree with his tummy… poor baby! He really liked them but his tummy didn’t for now.  He still likes homemade chicken and beef broth.  His favorite is drinking water from my glass!  Silly boy!  Mama’s milk is his staple food of choice and that is okay with me since it has great nutrition packed in there for him!  He’s growing great and was 20 lbs. 5 oz. (with clothes on) at his visit just before 8 months.

Jax loves having books read to him and even holding his own books and tries to turn the pages some.  His favorite book is “Things That Go” which has cars, trucks, airplanes, space shuttles, etc.  I think he really likes that Mama makes all the sounds of the different vehicles- he’s such a boy!  He’s really good at reaching for his different toys while sitting up and getting what he wants to play with or shake to make noise or hit against something to make a loud sound!  O boy of mine!  He leans really far forward when sitting where his chest touches the ground and sometimes falls onto his belly- he doesn’t always like when he falls but sometimes he’s okay with it.  He pushes up when on his tummy, lifting his entire chest and tummy off the ground but no crawling yet.  He can rotate his body around 180 degrees by scooting but doesn’t really move forward or backward much at all.  He sat up straight from lying flat on his back after nursing tonight- the boy has some abs!  He also found his toes just before 8 months and loves grabbing his feet and putting them in his mouth sometimes!

It’s official- Jackson has learned to say “Mama!”  Check out the video below of our sweet boy!  He’s quite the talker and likes to chat it up with his “Ba-ba-ba” and “Ma-ma-ma” and blowing raspberries.  He has a lot to say so he may be a preacher man one day or just speak his mind to anyone who will listen!  He’s laughing much more and it is so cute!  His little giggles when I pretend I’m eating his belly or face are just precious!  Thank you Jesus for our precious son!  We are so blessed to be Jackson’s parents and are thankful for the time we get to love on this precious boy.  This time last year we were busy getting ready to meet this little boy!  My prayer is for Jackson to walk in the ways of the Lord all the days of his life.  I know I have to rely on God’s grace each day, and I pray my son sees our daily need for our Savior and the joy and peace that come when we surrender our lives/days/minutes/seconds to Christ.

Jackson says “Mama” at 8 months! He starts saying “Mama” at 1:15

I LOVE playing with my Daddy!  Actually, I adore him!  When he walks in the door from work I can’t take my eyes off him and strain my neck just to see him!  I even stop eating if Daddy comes to sit next to Mommy because I have to see what Daddy is doing!IMG_6246

Jax’s 1st Food and Lots of Talking!

Baby Jackson is growing so fast!  It is hard to keep up on blogging as he changes and learns new things daily!  Jax had his first food of beef broth and then chicken broth at 6.5 months on 2/2/12.  He preferred the chicken broth! He is sitting up like a champ and loves to sit and play with his toys!  He is also “talking” lots!  His favorite things to say are “Da-Da,” “Ba-ba,” a screech (he is happy!), and a babble talk!  Here are some recent videos and pics!

ParentCommitmentCeremony (1 of 1)

Our Family at Jax’s Parent Commitment Service at Houston’s First Baptist Church on 1/22/12.  This was a special service for us as parents to publicly express our desire to raise Jackson in a Christian home, to bring him to church and to teach him about Jesus.  It was a great time of committing to raising our son in the ways of the Lord.  The life verse that we pray over Jackson is Colossians 3:17: “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”  Jackson, we pray you glorify our Lord through all you do in your life and that you come to accept Christ as your personal Savior at a young age and live for Jesus all the days of your life.  May God receive the glory!

Jackson is Growing Fast!

Our sweet little baby is growing so fast, and I keep thinking I will have time to sit down and do an update!  At 2 1/2 months, Jax started sleeping through the night and continues this some (some weeks are better than others)!  He has been cooing and “talking” baby talk more and more everyday!  He has recently found out how to yell- not when he is upset, just a loud screech.  It is pretty funny!  He has started blowing raspberries at 4 months and loves when we join in with him!  Jax is such a smiley baby, and it is so precious to see him light up with a smile when he sees our face or we talk to him and play with him.  He likes watching us do things- cooking, cleaning, etc.  If he is close enough to see, he is happy watching.  Jax also has noticed our puppy Missy and loves watching her play!  I think they will be buddies someday!

Here are some pics to catch up on the last few months! Warning: Lots of pictures. We sorta like taking pictures of our cutie.
